For many years, I have been enchanted by the Japanese manga as a comic medium and art form and have studied this craft. For this reason, the manga style is very prevalent in Ninja Billy comic strips. Manga and Anime artists have an amazing ability to show emotions and capture moods in pictures using techniques that are entirely unique to these trades. Of course, many American cartoon and comic influences are also easily detectable in Ninja Billy comics.

In Ninja Billy comics, I place a special emphasis on using feasible technology. Ninja Billy lives in a world of rapid technological change. In order to make all of Billy’s surroundings more believable to my readers, I take great measures to research the technology that I use and make it realistic. This attention to detail makes Ninja Billy’s comic world seem more real. I am a very strong proponent of using realism to promote the idea that my characters live in the “real world”. 

Comics and Cartoons as an Art Form
I strongly believe that cartoons and comics should be forms of art and that they should never be comprised of shoddily drawn pictures used simply to sell punch lines. Because of my conviction, I go to great lengths in each Ninja Billy comic to ensure that my pictures are pleasing to look at and that they capture the imagination in some way. This is what art does and I believe that this is what the best comics and cartoons do as well.

Common themes that you will find when you read Ninja Billy comics include being a positive influence on the people around you, helping others, overcoming adversity (hence the reason for the Undisclosed Ninja’s existence), reaching down deep to be a better person tomorrow than you are today, and constantly working to achieve your dreams. To me, this is what the human spirit is all about. The future is made from dreams, so we should never lose sight of them.
